Four Policemen Remanded for Owode-Onirin Market Shooting

Four policemen, identified as Manu Bala (41), Jibrin Samaila (47), Ibrahim Garuba (29), and Ibrahim Kashimu (26), have been remanded at the Kirikiri Custodial Centre following their alleged involvement in the shooting that killed seven traders at the Owode-Onirin International Spare Parts Market on August 27, 2025. They face seven counts, including conspiracy to commit murder, as stated by the prosecutor, Mr.

O.W. Ologun.

The incident reportedly involved the policemen opening fire on the traders with an AK-47 rifle, resulting in the deaths of six individuals, with one more still under investigation. The victims include Bamidel Dare, Mufutau Adebayo, Adewal Mathew, Adeoy Taiy, Abraham Idowu, Temilola Akinboy, Oluwaseyi Olamilekan, and Akeem Aderemi Adeoy.

The case has been adjourned to April 15, 2026, for further mention, and human rights lawyer Mr. Femi Falana, representing the victims' families, has called for transparency and fairness in the proceedings.
