Doctor in France Tests Positive for Ebola After Congo Trip

A doctor returning to France from a humanitarian mission in Congo has tested positive for Ebola, which is the first confirmed case in France linked to the ongoing outbreak. The French health ministry announced this development on Wednesday, stating that the patient has been placed in isolation.

Health authorities have launched contact tracing efforts to identify and monitor individuals who may have been exposed to the virus. The ministry assessed that the risk to the wider European population remains low.

The current Ebola outbreak in Congo has infected approximately 1,000 people and resulted in 267 deaths, according to the World Health Organization. This outbreak has recorded the highest number of confirmed cases within the first month of an Ebola episode.
