France Excludes African Nations from Working Holiday Visa

France has officially released a list of 16 countries whose citizens are eligible to apply for its Working Holiday visa, known as "vacances travail." Notably, no African nation is included in this list. The visa is valid for one year and typically cannot be renewed, allowing holders to engage in paid employment in France without prior approval from French authorities.

It is designed for young travelers seeking to experience life in France while financially supporting themselves through part-time or short-term work. Applications must generally be submitted through the relevant visa center in the applicant's home country, with exceptions for nationals of Australia, Canada, and Colombia, who can apply through the nearest French consular service in their current country of residence.

The maximum age for applicants varies by country, with some eligible until the day before their 36th birthday, while the minimum age is set at 18. For African nationals, the standard long-stay visa routes remain the only option for working and traveling in France.
