France Sets Key Criteria for Working Holiday Visa Applicants

France has published the requirements for its working holiday visa, known as the "vacances travail" visa, aimed at eligible young travelers who wish to spend extended time in the country while working to support themselves. Applicants must meet three core conditions: their home country must have a bilateral working holiday agreement with France, they must fall within the specified age range and financial requirements, and their primary motivation for travel must be tourism and cultural discovery rather than career pursuits.

The visa is classified as a long-stay permit, valid for one year, and cannot be extended unless specified in the bilateral agreement. Most applicants must submit their visa applications at their home country's visa center, but exceptions exist for nationals of Australia, Canada, and Colombia, who can apply through the French consular service in their current country of residence.
