FRC Encourages Students to Pursue Actuarial Science

The Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRC) made a strong appeal to students at CM Grammar School in Bariga, Lagos State, encouraging them to choose actuarial science as a course of study. The delegation, led by Mr.

Harri Oshoja, Assistant Director and Head of Actuarial Standards at FRC, highlighted the numerous benefits of studying actuarial science, including its relevance in various professional fields. Prof.

Ismaila Adeleke, Head of the Insurance Department at the University of Lagos, noted that actuarial science is a highly rewarding career choice, especially for those interested in the financial industry. He emphasized the global demand for actuaries, particularly in the United States, Canada, and Europe.

Mr. Olasunkunmi Ayind, one of only 28 actuaries in Nigeria, pointed out the lack of actuaries in the country and the opportunities available for students with strong mathematical and computational skills.

Revd. Jacob Ayokunl Ogunyinka expressed gratitude to the FRC team for their advocacy, urging students to embrace actuarial science to distinguish themselves in the workplace.
