ISWAP Finance Chief Surrenders to Nigerian Army in Borno

On July 25, 2026, a senior financial operative of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) surrendered to Nigerian troops in Borno State. The surrender occurred at approximately 6:45 a.m. along the Ladari–Jegarawa–Tunokalia axis on the Gamboru–Wulgo Main Supply Route.

The Nigerian Army, specifically soldiers from the 3 Battalion under the 24 Task Force Brigade of Operation Hadin Kai, reported this significant development. The surrendered insurgent was identified as the chief finance operative for the ISWAP enclave in Jubillaram, where he managed financial transactions and logistics.

He surrendered alongside two male children, following sustained military offensives that pressured insurgents to abandon their positions. Military authorities recovered an AK-47 rifle, four magazines, 101 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, a motorcycle, and ₦40,000 in cash from the insurgent.

The suspect is currently undergoing extensive profiling and interrogation to gather intelligence.
