ISWAP Finance Chief Surrenders Amid Military Pressure

On July 25, 2023, a senior finance operative of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) surrendered to troops of the 3 Battalion under the 24 Task Force Brigade at approximately 06:45 WAT along the Ladari-Jegarawa-Tunokalia axis of the Gamboru-Wulgo Main Supply Route. This surrender is part of a broader operational breakthrough achieved by Operation HADIN KAI, which has intensified military offensives against ISWAP, leading to the voluntary surrender of about 46 terrorists and their family members in recent days.

The surrendered operative was identified as the chief finance operative for ISWAP at Jubillaram, where he managed financial activities and logistics support for the group. Troops recovered an AK-47 rifle, four magazines, 101 rounds of ammunition, a motorcycle, and ₦40,000 during the surrender.

Military authorities view this as a significant setback for ISWAP, reflecting internal disillusionment and degradation of the group's command structure. The Theatre Command continues to urge remaining fighters to surrender and is seeking credible intelligence from residents to support ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
