Ondo APC Faces Crisis Over 2027 Election Fund Control

Tension is escalating within the Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as National Assembly candidates express opposition to an alleged committee purportedly established by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to oversee funds from the party's national secretariat for the 2027 general election. The committee reportedly includes state officials such as Commissioner for Finance Omowunmi Isaac and Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing Ayorinde Olawoye, among others.

Despite Governor Aiyedatiwa's Senior Special Assistant on Public Engagement, Steve Bayode Otaloro, denying the committee's existence, candidates contesting senatorial and House of Representatives seats have voiced concerns about the governor's commitment to the APC. A source within the party indicated that the candidates fear the funds may be misallocated to support candidates loyal to Aiyedatiwa who are running on other party platforms.

This situation follows allegations of anti-party activities against the governor, particularly after some aspirants he supported lost in the APC primaries.
