Crisis in Kaduna ADC Over Leadership Dispute

The Kaduna State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is facing a crisis after rejecting a purported state congress. The chapter, led by Hon.

Ahm Tijjani Ahm, issued a statement on Thursday disowning the gathering organized by Mr. Patrick Ambut, labeling it unauthorized and illegitimate.

The statement emphasized that Hon. Ahm Tijjani Ahm remains the legitimate chairman of the ADC in Kaduna State, asserting that no parallel group has the authority to organize a congress or appoint party officials.

Mr. Ambut had previously been expelled from the party in 2022 for alleged anti-party activities but was later pardoned in 2025.

The chapter reiterated that any member expelled automatically loses their rights and privileges unless formally reinstated by the national executive committee, which has not occurred in this case. The Kaduna chapter reaffirmed its loyalty to the national leadership of the ADC, represented by Senator David Mark, and stressed the importance of party unity and adherence to constitutional structures.
