Rival Factions Clash Over ADC Leadership in Zamfara

A leadership dispute has emerged within the Zamfara State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), resulting in clashes between two rival factions. One faction, led by Malam Moham Mainasara, asserts that it has the official backing of the party's national leadership to conduct a congress, which was supervised by a committee he headed, with Ambassador Zubairu Yalwa serving as secretary.

This congress resulted in the emergence of new state executive committee members, including Malam Shehu Gulubba as state chairman, Dr. Ahmad Hashim as secretary, Jafafar Aliyu as youth leader, and Maryam Abdullahi as women leader. Conversely, the opposing faction led by Kabiru Garba Gusau rejects the legitimacy of this new leadership, claiming the process was invalid and driven by individuals seeking to create divisions within the party.

The situation has prompted warnings from security agencies, including the police and the Department of State Services (DSS), against accepting the outcomes of the disputed congress. Gusau has announced disciplinary actions against those who participated in the congress.
