NLC Threatens Nationwide Protest Over Insecurity, Condemns Schoolgirl Abduction

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) led by President Joe Ajaero has announced plans for a nationwide protest on December 17, 2025, due to the increasing insecurity in the country. The NLC condemned the recent abduction of 24 schoolgirls in Kebbi and criticized the withdrawal of security personnel from vulnerable schools.

The NLC's National Executive Council (NEC) discussed various issues, including the ongoing strike in the tertiary education sector and the tragic attack on Saint Andrew's Church in Ihiala. The NEC resolved to mobilize state councils for protests and demand immediate investigations into security lapses to prevent further industrial actions.
