Government Must Stop Killings in Northern Nigeria

In a recent sermon, Murtadha Gusau called for the Nigerian government to take immediate action to stop the killings and abductions of its citizens, particularly in the northern regions. He highlighted a disturbing trend of violence, referencing an attack on February 19, where at least 50 people were killed and several women and children abducted in Dutsin Dan Ajiya village, Anka Local Government Area, Zamfara State.

Gusau stressed that the government's primary duty is to protect the lives and dignity of its citizens, drawing on Quranic verses that emphasize the sanctity of life. He likened government leaders to shepherds responsible for their flock, urging them to be accountable for the safety of their citizens.

He warned that neglecting this duty could lead to divine punishment, citing historical examples of leaders who feared divine accountability for their people's welfare. Gusau's message serves as a call to action for leaders to prioritize security and justice for all citizens.
