Chelle Backs New Super Eagles Star Yira Sor Collins

Eric Chelle, the head coach of Nigeria's senior national football team, has expressed strong support for newly called-up winger Yira Sor Collins. Collins, a 25-year-old energetic player from Genk, Belgium, has received his first call-up to the Nigerian squad for a four-team tournament in Turkey.

He is expected to make his debut on Friday during the opening match against Iran. Chelle highlighted Collins' impressive record of four goals and one assist in 24 appearances this season, asserting that Nigerians will appreciate his skills once he performs on the pitch.

The coach noted that although Collins plays in a less prominent league, he possesses significant talent. The friendly match against Iran is part of Nigeria's preparations for the 2026 World Cup, following their failure to qualify for the previous tournament.

Nigeria will also play Jordan on Tuesday as part of this international break.
