Nigeria's Medal Mission at 2026 Commonwealth Games

Mallam Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), and Hon. Bukola Olopade, Director General of the NSC, are in Glasgow, Scotland, to lead Team Nigeria's campaign at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

This mission follows a directive from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, conveyed by his Chief of Staff, Rt. Hon.

Femi Gbajabiamila, during a send-off ceremony in Abuja. Gbajabiamila encouraged the athletes to compete courageously and assured them of the Federal Government's support.

Hon. Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, reiterated the assignment's clarity: to win medals and make Nigeria proud.

Dikko is representing Nigeria at high-level meetings, while Olopade oversees the delegation's daily management. Team Nigeria consists of 72 athletes competing in 10 sports, including athletics, judo, boxing, and swimming.

The NSC expresses confidence that thorough preparation and presidential backing will lead to a successful performance at the Games.
