Sophia Momodu Discusses Stigma as Davido's Baby Mama

Sophia Momodu, known as Davido's baby mama, opened up about the stigma she faced after becoming pregnant outside marriage by the music star Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke. They welcomed their daughter, Imade, on May 14, 2015, and Davido later confirmed through DNA testing that he was her biological father.

Sophia described feeling unheard and judged, especially as a pastor's daughter, which intensified the shame surrounding her pregnancy. During a panel at the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York, she explained how public judgment affected her identity.

In 2024, she sought joint custody and unrestricted access to Imade, leading to a complicated custody dispute. Sophia also shared her experiences of postpartum depression and how discussing her journey publicly helped her connect with other women who faced similar challenges.
