Sophia Momodu Discusses Emotional Abuse After Davido Pregnancy

Sophia Momodu, a Nigerian influencer and entrepreneur, addressed the United Nations General Assembly in New York, discussing the emotional and psychological abuse she endured after becoming pregnant out of wedlock for singer Davido. Momodu explained that being a pastor's daughter subjected her to intense public scrutiny and mockery, particularly due to the stigma associated with having a child outside marriage.

She described the criticism as overwhelming, stating, “I am a pastor’s daughter who got pregnant out of wedlock by a global superstar. And I was mocked.” This scrutiny affected her ability to speak openly about her experiences, leaving her emotionally drained.

Momodu emphasized that cultural and religious expectations in Nigeria contributed to her feelings of shame and silence. However, she eventually found her voice and confidence after navigating these challenges, learning the importance of speaking for herself despite societal pressures.

She is the mother of Davido’s first daughter, Imade Adeleke.
