NSIA Transforms Nigeria's Healthcare with MedServe Initiative

The Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) aims to invest in sectors that yield long-term commercial returns and national impact, with healthcare being a primary focus. NSIA established NSIA Advanced Medical Services Limited (MedServe) to enhance access to high-quality healthcare services in Nigeria.
Under the leadership of Aminu Umar-Sadiq, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, NSIA has developed healthcare infrastructure, including the MedServe–LUTH Cancer Centre (MLCC) in Lagos, commissioned in May 2019. MLCC is the first oncology centre in Nigeria to offer 3D Conformal Radiotherapy and has the largest concentration of radiotherapy equipment in West Africa.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, MLCC provided essential cancer treatment domestically, showcasing the importance of local healthcare capacity. Additionally, MedServe has established the MedServe Kano Diagnostic Centre and the MedServe Umuahia Diagnostic Centre, enhancing diagnostic services in previously underserved regions.
Since its inception, MLCC has conducted over 25,000 radiotherapy sessions and 10,000 chemotherapy treatments, preventing over $200 million in foreign exchange outflows by reducing the need for medical tourism.
