FRSC Arrests 226 Drivers for Overloading in Bauchi, Borno, Yobe, Operation Shed Weights Ongoing

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Zone 12 covering Bauchi, Borno, and Yobe states has arrested 226 commercial drivers for overloading as part of Operation Shed Weights. The crackdown on overloading, a major cause of road accidents, began in August 2025 and has resulted in numerous violations being recorded.

Overloading violates specific sections of the National Road Traffic Regulation 2022, posing risks to road safety. Assistant Corps Marshal Yakubu Mohammad emphasized the importance of passenger safety and urged the public to resist traveling in overloaded vehicles.

The FRSC reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing regulations and ensuring road safety through continuous patrols.
