FRSC Warns Against Speeding After Fatal Rivers Crash

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has cautioned motorists against excessive speeding after a tragic road crash in Rivers State claimed two lives. The accident occurred early on Monday at Rumuola Junction in Port Harcourt, involving a vehicle reportedly returning from a nightclub.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that the vehicle was traveling at high speed on a largely deserted road when it failed to negotiate the Rumuola roundabout properly. Mr. Umoh Inyang, the Rivers State sector commander of the FRSC, attributed the crash to overspeeding, noting that preliminary findings revealed that none of the victims died instantly upon impact.

The incident involved a person who was struck while attempting to return to the crashed vehicle to retrieve an item. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but the two individuals were confirmed dead.

Inyang emphasized the need for motorists to adjust their driving according to road conditions, particularly at sharp bends, and warned against driving under the influence of alcohol.
