Ten Dead in Niger Road Crash Involving Tanker

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed that a road crash in Niger resulted in the deaths of 10 individuals and injuries to 20 others. The incident occurred at 8:20 AM on the Tafa Gujeni route, involving a DAF tanker with registration number FKY136XD, which was carrying 33 male occupants at the time.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the crash was caused by excessive speed, leading to a loss of control, and the vehicle was engaged in illegal mixed loading of goods and passengers. The FRSC, under the leadership of Corp Marshal Malam Shehu Moham, responded promptly to the scene, rescuing 23 victims alive and clearing the obstruction to restore traffic flow.

Injured individuals were taken to Umar Musa General Hospital in Sabon Wuse, while the deceased were deposited in the mortuary. Mr.

Felicia Kalu, the FRSC Public Education Officer, emphasized the importance of adhering to safety regulations, maintaining speed limits, and avoiding the use of unsuitable vehicles for passenger transport.
