Fubara Prioritizes Governance Over 2027 Politics in Rivers

Siminalayi Fubara, the current governor of River State, has stated that his focus is on governance and infrastructure development rather than the upcoming 2027 elections. This statement comes in response to accusations from former governor Nyesom Wike, who alleged that Fubara is prioritizing political ambitions over governance.

Wike's comments were made during a media chat in Abuja, where he claimed Fubara reneged on agreements and is not genuinely seeking re-election. In defense, Fubara's Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, labeled these allegations as false, asserting that the governor is actively overseeing critical infrastructure projects across the state.

Nzeshi emphasized that Fubara inherited 12 major road projects, with nine of them over 70% complete, and highlighted ongoing work on the Kalabari Road and Port Harcourt Ring Road. He urged residents to disregard attempts to discredit the governor, affirming Fubara's commitment to fulfilling his governance responsibilities.
