NMDPRA Closes Two Port Harcourt Stations for Fuel Violations

The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has shut down two filling stations in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, due to allegations of under-dispensing petroleum products. The affected stations are MRS filling station in the CFC area and Stageoil filling station at Craft Centre along Aba Road.
This enforcement action followed a regulatory surveillance exercise aimed at ensuring compliance with fuel quality and dispensing standards. In conjunction with this, the NMDPRA has partnered with Bureau Veritas and Ace Energy and Power Solutions Limited to enhance petroleum product testing and improve laboratory facilities.
Dr Mustapha Lamorde, representing the authority’s Chief Executive Mallam Rabiu Umar, indicated that the sealed stations could face sanctions pending investigations. The NMDPRA also queried Rainoil and cautioned TotalEnergies for alleged irregularities, while commending the NNPC filling station for meeting service standards.
The authority operates nine laboratories nationwide and is pursuing international accreditation under ISO/IEC 17025 to bolster confidence in testing results.
