Germany Allows 12 Countries' Citizens to Work Without Qualifications

Germany has opened a pathway for citizens from 12 specific countries to secure employment without needing to provide proof of their qualifications. This policy is based on Section 26 (1) of Germany's Ordinance on the Employment of Foreigners, which designates these passport holders as a "privileged group." According to the German government's official website, eligible nationals can be employed in Germany "regardless of their qualification and the location of their employer." This significant change means that these citizens do not need to have their academic certificates, professional diplomas, or trade credentials recognized or verified before applying for a residence title tied to employment.

However, the Federal Employment Agency must still approve the employment, maintaining a condition that applies regardless of nationality. This exemption from the qualification requirement reflects Germany's evolving framework to address skilled labor shortages across various sectors.
