International Break: Key Matches Featuring Klopp and Zidane

The 2026/27 football season will experience a 16-day international break from September 21 to October 6, as part of a new FIFA international calendar that merges the September and October windows. This change allows national teams to play up to four matches instead of the usual two.

During this period, domestic leagues, including the Premier League, will pause, with matches resuming on October 10. Football fans can look forward to various international fixtures, including UEFA Nations League matches, Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, and international friendlies.

Notable matches include Jürgen Klopp's debut as Germany coach against the Netherlands, Xavi Hernández's first match with the Netherlands, and Jorge Jesus leading Portugal against Wales. Additionally, Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana will face off in an AFCON qualifying match.

The Super Eagles will also be active in their AFCON qualifying campaign during this break.
