Nigeria Releases Emergency Contacts for Middle East Citizens

The Federal Government of Nigeria has issued an emergency contact list for Nigerian diplomatic missions across the Middle East to assist citizens affected by the escalating conflict in the region. This advisory was announced by the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with spokesperson Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa explaining that the list includes contact details for Nigerian missions in ten countries.

Nigerians living or traveling in the Middle East are urged to maintain communication with their nearest embassies or consulates. The Ministry also emphasized the importance of registering with the embassies for emergency support.

The Nigerian Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has dismissed claims circulating online that Nigerians in Iran were unable to issue distress calls during the crisis. The conflict has intensified due to joint airstrikes reportedly carried out by Israel and the United States, with retaliatory attacks from Tehran.

Additionally, Nigerian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu, disclosed that approximately 12,000 Nigerians currently reside in the United Arab Emirates, a significant destination for Nigerian Christian pilgrims.
