NIDCOM Addresses Distress Calls from Nigerians Abroad

The Nigerian Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), through its Director of Media and Public Relations, Abdur Rahman Balogun, issued a statement on Tuesday in Abuja addressing media reports regarding distress calls from Nigerians in the Middle East. NIDCOM clarified that while there have been no widespread distress calls, a few Nigerians in Qatar, UAE, and Iran have inquired about evacuation preparations due to the ongoing crisis in the region.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working with relevant agencies to ensure appropriate steps are taken. NIDCOM advised Nigerians in affected countries to adhere to travel advisories and contact emergency numbers provided by the Ministry.

Additionally, the Nigerian Embassy in Kuwait has urged nationals residing there to remain calm and observe safety guidelines. The embassy is closely monitoring the situation and has established a dedicated WhatsApp line for communication with Nigerians in Kuwait and Bahrain.
