Lagos State Sues 45 Firms Over ₦22 Billion Tax Debt

The Lagos State Government has filed a lawsuit against 45 companies and individuals for failing to pay a total of ₦22 billion in taxes. The case has been brought before the state’s revenue court, with notable entities such as Bi-Courtney Aviation Services, which owes ₦38 million, and Daar Communications Plc, which has a larger debt of ₦22.4 billion.

Other companies included in the suit are GMT Energy Resources Ltd, Sheriff Deputy Ltd, and Heyden Petroleum Ltd, among others, with debts ranging from ₦10 million to ₦145 million. The Attorney General of Lagos State, Lawal Pedro, stated that the legal action aims to enforce compliance with tax laws and ensure that taxpayers fulfill their legal obligations.

Individuals involved in the case owe amounts starting from ₦13.5 million, with some exceeding ₦35 million. The government has previously issued notices to these entities regarding their tax debts, and failure to respond has led to this court action.
