FJSC Releases 48 Judge Nominees for Court of Appeal, NJC to Select 12 Candidates

The Federal Judicial Service Commission (FJSC) has unveiled a list of 48 judge nominees for potential appointment to the Court of Appeal. The National Judicial Council (NJC) will choose 12 candidates from this list after a thorough screening process, including interviews.

Notable nominees include Justice James Kolawole Omotosho, who sentenced Nnamdi Kanu to life imprisonment, Justice Emeka Nwite, handling high-profile cases, and Justice Safiya Badamasi Umar, a senior advocate serving as a judge. The aim is to enhance transparency and accountability in judicial appointments.

The NJC will conduct its own screening process to finalize the 12 recommended candidates for appointment to various state Court of Appeal benches, including states like Benu, Plateau, Gombe, Taraba, Katsina, Kebbi, Ebonyi, Bayelsa, Cross River, Ekiti, Ogun, and Ondo.
