Oyo Abductors Demand 1 Billion Naira Ransom for Release

In Oyo State, Nigeria, abductors have issued four demands for the release of kidnapped pupils and teachers from a school in the Oriire Local Government Area. The demands include a ransom of 1 billion Naira, the provision of two Hilux vehicles, and the implementation of Sharia law.

The kidnappers are linked to Mahmud Usman, also known as Abu Bara, and Abba Mukhtar, who are associated with the Jama'atu Ansarul Muslimeena Fii Biladi Sudan, a faction of Boko Haram. The Oyo State government has not disclosed its negotiation strategy but has confirmed the death of a kidnapped teacher, Michael Oyedokun.

Security analysts warn that meeting the demands could embolden criminal groups and pose a serious risk to national security. The situation remains critical, with the state government under pressure to secure the release of the victims.
