Funke Akindele Responds to Criticism with Humor in 2026

On 28 September 2026, Funke Akindele shared a selfie-style video filmed in her Lagos home, featuring Instagram influencer Tobe, who made a surprise visit. In the video, Funke humorously indicated that Tobe had unwittingly entered her plans, using animated gestures to engage the audience.

This lighthearted moment came after Funke faced criticism on social media for not attending the premiere of "StarLomo," the cinema debut of skit maker Kamo State, on 20 September 2026. Some commenters accused her of being a "user" who elevates young creatives for her own benefit and then moves on without reciprocating their support.

Funke's video served as a witty rebuttal to these claims, as she openly joked about the behavior she was accused of, signaling her awareness of the narrative and her indifference to it. The video was initially posted as a Story before being shared on X by user @Vgoodll, to which Funke responded with laughing emojis.
