FUTA Teaching Hospital Urges Workers to Reconsider Strike

FUTA Teaching Hospital has called on its workers to shelve a planned strike scheduled for April 8, 2026, which was prompted by unresolved grievances regarding staff welfare and working conditions. The union, led by Chairman Elusoji Olumid, accused the Chief Medical Director of failing to address ongoing trade disputes affecting the staff.

In response, Tope Fayehun, the hospital's head of public relations, labeled these allegations as unfounded and misleading, asserting that they do not reflect the hospital's commitment to transparency and collaboration. Fayehun reaffirmed the institution's dedication to staff welfare and the delivery of quality healthcare, emphasizing adherence to established standards for federal teaching hospitals.

The management denied claims of arbitrary staff removals and insisted that all decisions were made following due process and best practices. They urged the union to reconsider its stance and emphasized the importance of continued dialogue to resolve disputes amicably, ensuring uninterrupted patient care.
