Yusuf Declares Independence from Ganduje in Kano Politics

Abba Kabir Yusuf, the current governor of Kano State, has publicly declared that Abdullahi Ganduje, the former governor and national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), cannot give him instructions regarding political matters in the state. Yusuf made this assertion while addressing supporters following his recent defection from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the APC.

He emphasized that his decision was necessary to prevent a larger political crisis in Kano, which he believes could affect millions of residents if urgent action was not taken. Yusuf faced criticism for abandoning the Kwankwasiyya movement, but he dismissed these claims, asserting that his leadership within the APC is independent of Ganduje's influence.

He stated that while he respects Ganduje as a political figure, their relationship does not imply that Ganduje has control over him. Yusuf's statements were met with support from his followers, who chanted his name during the address.
