Daniel Daga Sentenced to Six Months for Sexual Assault

Daniel Daga, a 19-year-old Nigerian midfielder who played for the Norwegian club Mold FK, was found guilty of sexual assault and sentenced to six months in prison by a Norwegian court on March 10, 2025. The court also ordered him to pay 10,000 Norwegian kroner in legal costs.

The charges against Daga were formally filed on December 19, 2025. Garba Lawal, a former Super Eagles player, reacted to the news by expressing deep concern and describing the situation as "deeply unfortunate." He warned young Nigerian footballers to exercise caution when playing abroad.

Daga had previously been part of Nigeria's Flying Eagles squad that competed in the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina.
