Rivers Coach Supports Daga After Prison Sentence

Yemi Olanrewaju, the coach of Rivers United, has publicly declared his support for Nigerian midfielder Daniel Daga, who was sentenced to six months in prison by the Nordmøre Romsdal District Court in Norway for committing a sexual act without consent. The court's verdict, delivered on March 10, also ordered Daga to pay 10,000 Norwegian kroner in legal costs.

Daga's lawyer, Astrid Bolstad, confirmed that they would appeal the verdict, asserting Daga's innocence and stating that the case is not yet legally binding. In response to the situation, Mold FK has suspended Daga from training and match activities until further notice.

Olanrewaju took to social media to encourage Daga, emphasizing that everyone makes mistakes and that this should not define his life or career. Daga, a former captain of the Nigeria U-20 team, joined Mold FK ahead of the 2025 season and has made 15 appearances, scoring three goals.
