Nigerian Player Sentenced for Sexual Assault in Norway

A 19-year-old Nigerian midfielder has been sentenced to jail in Norway for sexual assault, as ruled by the Romsdal District Court. The player, who has a contract with Mold Football Club, maintains his innocence and intends to appeal the verdict.

His lawyer, Astrid Bolstad, has stated that they believe the encounter was consensual and expressed disappointment with the court's decision. The player has been ordered to pay NOK 100,000 in legal fees.

Following the verdict, Mold Football Club announced that the player would be removed from the squad until further notice to allow for the completion of the legal process. The club emphasized the seriousness of the matter and their responsibility towards their employees.

The case remains ongoing as the player’s defense attorney has notified the court of their intention to appeal, indicating that the verdict is not final.
