Gates Foundation Supports Free Healthcare in Kaduna State

The Gates Foundation has announced its support for Kaduna State's initiative to provide free healthcare coverage to 32,000 vulnerable residents. This initiative is part of the Kaduna State Contributory Health Management Agency (KADCHMA) efforts to enhance healthcare access.

Abubakar Hassan Dure, the Director General of KADCHMA, emphasized the importance of this partnership in reducing maternal and child mortality rates in the state. The program will enroll beneficiaries from 23 local government areas, with selection based on local population size and poverty index data from the Kaduna State Bureau of Statistics.

The initiative reserves 60% of slots for pregnant women and 40% for children under five years old. Dr.

Anthony Shamang from the Gates Foundation reaffirmed the organization's long-term commitment to improving healthcare for vulnerable groups in Nigeria. This initiative marks a significant step towards achieving universal health coverage and providing a safety net for Kaduna State's vulnerable population.
