Gbagyi Leaders Push for FCT State and Political Representation

Gbagyi leaders have advocated for the establishment of a state from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and increased political representation to combat the marginalization of their community. This call was made during the second edition of the Most Influential Gbagyi in Nigeria (MIGIN) awards held in Abuja.
Dr Isreal Lissa, the pioneer and CEO of the MIGIN awards, urged the federal government to grant state status to the FCT, create more area councils, establish an FCT House of Assembly, and increase the territory's senatorial districts from one to three. The initiative, launched in 2020, aims to recognize Gbagyi contributions and promote unity among Gbagyi-Bari communities.
Lissa praised President Bola Tinubu for appointing Zephaniah Bitrus Jisalo as Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs and commended FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for inclusive governance. Keynote speaker Dr Theophilus Chigudu Tanko emphasized the need for unity among the Gbagyi to enhance their political influence and development.
