Gbajabiamila Sues Adeyemi for N15 Billion Defamation

Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President, has initiated a defamation lawsuit against Princ Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew, the Director General of the Presidential Fiscal Project Implementation Committee (PFIPC), claiming N15 billion in damages. The lawsuit, filed in the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja, alleges that Adeyemi made false claims demanding a 48% kickback from a N27.3 billion federal grant.

Gbajabiamila seeks N10 billion in general damages, N5 billion in aggravated damages, and N200 million for legal costs. He requests that Adeyemi retract his statements and publish an apology in five national newspapers and on social media.

The allegations include claims of a meeting where Adeyemi purportedly demanded money through intermediaries, which Gbajabiamila denies. The case also references an alleged assassination attempt on Gbajabiamila and the involvement of the late Babatunde Tanimola as an intermediary.

Adeyemi is currently on trial for allegedly forging presidential documents.
