Gbajabiamila Sues Adeyemi for N15bn Defamation Claim

Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President, has initiated a N15 billion defamation lawsuit against Princ Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew at the Federal High Court in Abuja. The lawsuit stems from allegations made by Adeyemi, who claimed that Gbajabiamila demanded a 48% kickback from a N27.3 billion grant approved for a federal agency.

Gbajabiamila's suit seeks N10 billion in general damages, N5 billion in aggravated damages, and N200 million in legal costs. He denies ever meeting Adeyemi or authorizing anyone to act on his behalf regarding the alleged kickback.

The court documents reveal that Adeyemi has previously faced charges related to forgery. Gbajabiamila's legal team, led by Kemi Pinheiro of Pinheiro LP, describes Adeyemi's statements as false and malicious.

The case also references an alleged assassination attempt on Babatunde Tanimola, who was purportedly involved in the matter. Gbajabiamila's solicitor issued a cease-and-desist letter demanding an immediate retraction and apology.
