Gbenga Daniel Vows to Defeat Dapo Abiodun in APC Primary

Otunba Gbenga Daniel, the former governor of Ogun State and current senator representing Ogun East, announced his determination to defeat Governor Dapo Abiodun in the forthcoming All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary scheduled for the 2027 general elections. Speaking during an empowerment program organized by Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Ijebu Ode, Daniel asserted that he remains a popular choice among party members and residents in the district.

He expressed confidence that a free and fair primary would lead to his overwhelming victory. Daniel urged voters not to be intimidated by alleged plans within the party to suppress voter participation and intimidate members during the primary elections.

Tensions between Daniel and Abiodun have escalated recently, particularly following a meeting of APC stakeholders in Ogun East, where Abiodun was reportedly endorsed as a consensus candidate for the senatorial seat. Daniel claimed he was prevented from entering the venue of this meeting.
