Gbenga Daniel Vows to Defeat Abiodun in APC Primary

Otunba Gbenga Daniel, a former governor of Ogun State, expressed confidence in defeating Dapo Abiodun in the APC primary, asserting that the election must be free and fair. Speaking at an empowerment program in Ijebu Ode, he claimed that he remains a popular choice among party members in the Ogun East district.

Daniel accused the Ogun State government of planning to intimidate party members and suppress voter participation during the primaries. He referred to recent developments where APC stakeholders reportedly endorsed Abiodun as a consensus candidate for the Ogun East senatorial seat, which Daniel's BATOGD Movement rejected.

Tayo Onayemi, the deputy director-general of the movement, argued that the APC constitution recognizes direct primaries and that any consensus agreement without a written endorsement is null and void. Daniel also criticized the state government for failing to improve healthcare facilities and staff in the district, citing a large turnout at his event as evidence of grassroots support.
