David Mark Calls Rabe Abubakar's Death a National Tragedy

David Mark, the national chairman of the African Democratic Congress, expressed profound sorrow over the death of Major General Rabe Abubakar, a former Director of Defence Intelligence, calling it a national tragedy. In a statement signed by Kola Ologbondiyan, Mark lamented the persistent threats of terrorism, banditry, and violent crime that have endangered the lives of Nigerians.

He emphasized the urgent need for a comprehensive review of Nigeria's security architecture, noting that the death of Abubakar, who was a dedicated military officer, raises serious concerns about the safety and security of every Nigerian citizen. Mark observed that insecurity has escalated over the decades, affecting all segments of society, and called for national unity against these threats.

He urged the government to mobilize resources to combat insecurity and ensure the welfare of the people, which remains the primary responsibility of the government. Mark extended condolences to the family of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar, who was a victim of banditry and kidnapping.
