Bakoji Calls Abubakar's Death a National Disgrace

Captain Abdullahi Bakoji, a retired Nigerian military officer, referred to the death of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, who was kidnapped by bandits, as a national disgrace in an exclusive interview with Daily Post on Saturday. Bakoji recalled that Abubakar's wife was also kidnapped in Katsina while en route to Kaduna State.

Following the incident, the terrorists released at least two videos of the general's wife. Bakoji, a security analyst, called for a wake-up call for the government and security agencies to revisit their security tactics in light of Abubakar's death.

He stated that this incident would significantly affect serving soldiers, who dedicate their lives to protecting the nation but are not safe from common terrorists. Bakoji lamented the gap in security tactics, particularly in intelligence reporting to deter crime, and urged for an urgent response to crime.

He also highlighted that poverty plays a significant role in fueling insecurity in Nigeria and called for tackling its root causes.
