Atiku Abubakar Critiques Nigeria's Security Failures

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria, expressed deep concern over the death of retired General Rabe, stating it reflects a nation facing severe security challenges. He criticized the current administration led by President Bola Tinubu for its ineffective approach to insecurity, which has left citizens vulnerable to criminal elements.

Atiku noted that Gen Rabe dedicated much of his life to defending Nigeria and lamented that even experienced military leaders are not safe from rampant banditry and terrorism. He referenced recent attacks, including one in Kautikari, Borno State, where terrorists set educational facilities ablaze, recalling the traumatic abduction of 270 schoolgirls in April 2014.

Atiku emphasized the need for the federal government to reassess its security strategies, urging decisive and coordinated actions to rescue victims and dismantle criminal networks. He stated that mere condemnations are no longer sufficient and called for a restoration of public confidence in Nigeria's security system.
