Ndukuba Warns of Erosion of Nigerian Values Among Youth

Most Rev. Dr Henry C. Ndukuba, the Archbishop, Metropolitan, and Primate of the Church of Nigeria, voiced concerns regarding the erosion of valuable societal values among younger generations, particularly Gen Zs and Gen Alpha.

This statement was made during a dinner held in his honor by the Obafemi Awolowo family in Ikenne, Ogun State. Ndukuba noted that Nigeria is gradually losing the values that shaped previous generations, as young people increasingly idolize celebrities over historical figures who contributed significantly to society.

He lamented the decline of meaningful music and the lack of historical knowledge among youth, attributing this to the reduction of history education in Nigerian schools. Ndukuba criticized education managers for neglecting history, warning that a lack of understanding of the country’s past could hinder the youth's appreciation of Nigeria's future.

He urged leaders and citizens to learn from historical figures like Awolowo, emphasizing the importance of selflessness and service to humanity.
