Atiku Accuses Tinubu of Deceiving on Power Sector Debt

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria, accused President Bola Tinubu's administration of deception regarding power sector debts. This accusation follows a revelation from the Association of Power Generation Companies (APGC) about a 501 billion naira bond that has not been fully disbursed, despite government claims to the contrary.

Atiku's statements, communicated through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Frank Shaibu, question the transparency and fiscal discipline of the current administration. He demanded that the federal government publish a complete list of beneficiaries and amounts paid to power generation companies, emphasizing that public funds must be traceable.

Atiku highlighted that previous interventions in the power sector have not resolved the ongoing debt issues, and he called for a comprehensive public audit of the power sector intervention funds. He criticized the government's handling of the situation, stating that the public deserves transparency and accountability regarding the management of power sector finances.
