Queiroz Reappointed as Ghana's National Football Coach

Carlos Queiroz has been reappointed as the head coach of Ghana’s men’s national football team, as announced by the Ghana Football Association (GFA). The 73-year-old Portuguese coach returns after previously leading the Black Stars during the 2023 FIFA World Cup, where he guided the team to the last 32 before a 1-0 defeat to Colombia.

Although Queiroz appeared to announce his departure on social media following the defeat, the GFA decided to bring him back after internal discussions. The length of Queiroz’s new contract has not been disclosed, but he is tasked with preparing the Black Stars for a successful new phase on the international stage.

The GFA expressed confidence in Queiroz’s extensive international experience and technical expertise. His immediate responsibility will be to prepare Ghana for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, which will begin later this month.

Ghana has been drawn in Group C alongside Ivory Coast, The Gambia, and Somalia, with dates and venues for the opening fixtures yet to be announced.
