Gibbs-White to Join England Squad as Palmer Withdraws

Morgan Gibbs-White is poised for a recall to the England national team to replace Cole Palmer, who is expected to withdraw from the squad due to a minor injury. England manager Thomas Tuchel indicated on September 21 that Gibbs-White was close to selection after initially missing out on the squad for the Nations League matches.

Palmer, who is 24 years old, had been aiming to prove himself after being controversially omitted from England’s World Cup squad. He will miss the international break during which England will play four matches, including a game against World Cup winners Spain at Wembley on September 26, followed by matches against the Czech Republic on September 29 and October 6, and Croatia on October 3.

Additionally, Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo are injury doubts for England. If Mainoo withdraws, James Garner is a strong candidate to replace him.

Palmer's withdrawal follows his full participation in a recent match for Chelsea FC, where he has scored four goals and provided two assists this season.
