NADDC Urges Legislative Support for Nigeria's Automotive Policy

The Nigerian Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), represented by Director General Otunba Joseph Osanipin, called on the National Assembly (NASS) to provide legislative backing for Nigeria's automotive policy during a workshop in Abuja on Monday. Osanipin emphasized that investors will remain cautious without a regulatory framework supported by law.

He pointed out that while the automotive industry development plan aims to provide direct support for the sector's long-term growth, it requires legal certainty to encourage large-scale investments in vehicle assembly and component production. The workshop, organized in collaboration with the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, focused on strengthening sector policies.

Akin Rotimi, Chairman of the House Committee, highlighted the importance of improving the accuracy of parliamentary reports on the automotive sector to enhance public confidence in policy initiatives. Grace Ik and Gboyega Onadiran also reiterated the strategic importance of the automotive industry to Nigeria's economy.
