Nigeria Wins Three More Medals at Glasgow 2026 Games

At the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Team Nigeria achieved significant success, winning three additional medals to elevate their total to 22. The men’s 4×100 metres relay team, consisting of Favour Ashe, Kanyinsola Ajayi, Nicholas Fakorede, and Udodi Onwuzurike, earned a silver medal with a season's best time of 38.12 seconds, narrowly finishing behind Australia, who clocked 38.07 seconds.

Canada was initially ahead but was disqualified, allowing Nigeria to secure second place. Ruth Usoro won silver in the women's long jump with a wind-assisted leap of 6.87 metres, while Enku Ekuta made history by winning bronze in the women’s 63kg judo category, ending Nigeria's 24-year medal drought in the sport.

Kola Daniel, Special Assistant at the National Sports Commission, stated that these achievements reflect the positive impact of the Commission's focus on elite athlete preparation.
